Laura Detre

Laura Detre is an involved community member, a mother of two, and an experienced board member. She has served on the WCASD board since December 2021 where she is the chair of the Policy Committee as well as a member of the Teaching, Learning and Equity Committee. She is also the Membership Director for PFLAG West Chester/Chester County. Professionally, Laura is a historian and teaches at West Chester University. She also volunteers with Art Goes to School and Free Mom Hugs. She is married to Joseph and has two teenagers, Felix and Walter.

Campaign Points

As your School Director, Laura will:

  • Prioritize smart spending with an emphasis on getting results for our kids while keeping taxes in check

  • Advocate for children of all backgrounds, abilities, and circumstances

  • Be available and open to conversations with all stakeholders

  • Support our staff and ensure that they have the support they need to educate our kids

  • Build on WCASD’s legacy of excellence and help to create a modern and effective curriculum
